ADCOLOR Celebrates Range in Promoting and Media Throughout Three-Day Digital Convention

As organizations across the country keep spinning during the pandemic, ADCOLOR decided to present its annual conference practically last month with celebrity speakers, musical performances, multiple stages, interactive rooms and an awards ceremony.

According to a press release, over 8,200 people in 50 countries took part in the three-day virtual experience titled ADCOLOR Everywhere from September 8-10. During the event, top-class entertainers, executives, entrepreneurs and change agents spoke about the need for greater involvement in the advertising and media industries. Speakers included actress and entrepreneur Gabrielle Union, gospel singer Yolanda Adams, the executive director of the African American Policy Forum, Kimberlé Crenshaw, Bishop TD Jakes, activist Tamika Mallory, and the Recording Academy’s chief diversity and inclusion officer, Valeisha Butterfield Jones. Other speakers included Angela Yee, host of The Breakfast Club radio program, and Rashad Robinson, president of Color of Change, who hosted a one-on-one interview with Alicia Garza, co-founder of Black Lives Matter.

During the 14th annual ADCOLOR Awards, Garza and her BLM co-founders Patrissee Cullors and Opal Tometi received the Adcolor Beacon Award for their work on social justice. Mastercard won the event’s biggest award, Ad of the Year, for its True Name ad, which highlighted discrimination against transgender and gender-based individuals and their names on credit cards. The ceremony also included performances by Anthony Hamilton, MAJOR and Wyclef Jean, streamed live from the iconic Apollo Theater.

Presenting the industry’s largest conference on diversity and inclusion, ADCOLOR was founded in 2005 to celebrate and promote color and diversity professionals in the creative industry. It was founded by advertising veteran Tiffany F. Warren, Senior VP, Chief Diversity Officer of the Omnicom Group.

“Our annual get-together is something that attendees look forward to every year. By going virtual, we decided not only to offer the same first class experience, but to maximize it for attendees and really take it to the next level,” Warren said in a press release. “In addition to our main events, which include the ADCOLOR conference and the award ceremony, we wanted to continue offering additional perks like our after-party and our concert.”

The organization has panels to develop ADCOLOR Everywhere into a digital community and a leading platform on which people can exchange ideas, network and build online relationships and introduce products and concepts.

Some of the more than 50 hours of content presented during ADCOLOR Everywhere will be available for public viewing on YouTube until December 31st.
