Black Enterprise Leaders, Cultural Icons Headline Black Entrepreneurs Day

Whether you invest money wisely or seek expert advice to run a business, black entrepreneurs can get profitable tips from prominent entrepreneurs who have turned startups into lucrative businesses.

Investor and Shark Tank co-star Daymond John will provide one such opportunity through Black Entrepreneurs Day, presented by Chase for Business, along with production company Medium Rare.

The free global livestream in celebration of black entrepreneurship announced today will air on Saturday, October 24th at 7 p.m. EST on Facebook via Daymond John’s Facebook page, as well as on YouTube, Twitter, Twitch, LiveXLive and TikTok.

The stream, described as a prime time special at the intersection of business and entertainment, contains “Game Changer Conversations” in which John talks one-on-one with executives from black companies and cultural icons such as Shaquille “Shaq” O’Neal, Gabrielle Union and Jamie speaks Foxx, Robert Johnson and LL Cool among others. Music stars Chance The Rapper and Questlove will also perform live, and there will be an afterparty to introduce DJ Diesel, O’Neal’s musical nickname.

The event provides orientation and inspiration for the next generation of aspiring entrepreneurs. In addition, the company will provide financial support of USD 175,000 through its NAACP Powershift Entrepreneur Grant, which was set up in collaboration with the NAACP. The funding is expected to be split into seven grants of $ 25,000 each.

The money will come from the event’s partners: Chase for Business, The General® Insurance, Pepsi, Cisco Webex, Quickbooks, Yappa and Robinhood. Black entrepreneurs and small business owners in America have now until October 12th to apply for the grants, Here.

“2020 has been a challenging year for many, but it has also opened up tremendous opportunities for people across the country to stand up to be heard,” said John. “I asked myself, ‘How can I make a difference? ‘and’ How can I call my network to make this difference? ‘ “

John has been a Chase Ambassador since 2016 and has played a key role in the Chase Advancing Black Entrepreneurs program. The initiative provides tools and advice to help black business owners address issues such as the financial challenges of the coronavirus pandemic.
