Ex Teammates Al Harrington and Larry Hughes Launch Hashish Enterprise

Former NBA players Al Harrington and Larry Hughes team up again – this time to expand Harrington’s cannabis business.

Harrington announced This former NBA player Hughes will expand the Viola brand when he opens two cannabis dispensaries and a cultivation and processing center in St. Louis early next year. The new company is called Viola Missouri (VMO) and is a partnership with Harrington and its cannabis company Village Brands.

“I am honored to bring VMO to life in St. Louis. Throughout my career in the NBA and since retiring, I have focused my energies and resources on making a positive impact on this community. I have been committed to efforts to break the mental health stigma and spent a lot of time developing the young leaders of this city. VMO will serve the medical needs of our community, especially those suffering from physically and mentally debilitating conditions, including PTSD. I see this next trip as a continuation of the work we have already done and I believe that VMO will soon be a model business in our community, ”said Hughes in a written statement.

Missouri has developed a well-regulated and patient-centric medical program that currently serves nearly 100,000 patients across the state.

“Viola is the largest black-run and owned cannabis operator in several states in the United States. I experienced firsthand the benefits of cannabis to improve the lives of many people suffering from a wide variety of diseases, starting with my grandmother Viola. VMO is an exciting new opportunity that allows us to serve a community that has recently been granted access to medicinal cannabis and one of which is still actively working to combat the stigma associated with cannabis use, “said Harrington.

VMO will have two central locations for its pharmacies. The flagship pharmacy is located directly across from the upcoming Major League Soccer Stadium on 2001 Olive Street. A second pharmacy is located at 3420 Iowa Street. The pharmacies are scheduled to open to patients in April 2021.
