The footage of the veteran attorney, who has practiced in Hong Kong since 1997, has been widely shared on social media. It shows Mr Clancey walking with a crutch while the police slowly lead him away. When a reporter asks if he has something to say to the people of Hong Kong, he answers unimpressed: “Continue to work for democracy and human rights in Hong Kong.”
