Hong Kong’s pro-democracy legislators to resign en masse | China
Mass resignations come after the Hong Kong government disqualified four lawmakers on alleged security threats.
All pro-democracy politicians in Hong Kong resigned from the city’s legislature Wednesday, just hours after the city’s government disqualified four opposition lawmakers on charges of “endangering national security”.
The expulsion of the four politicians came after the Chinese parliament passed a resolution allowing the city government to exclude lawmakers who support Hong Kong’s independence, cooperate with foreign forces or threaten national security without going to court.
