LaBelle’s tarts rose to prominence on social media in 2015 after superfan James Wright reviewed one of her sweet potato tarts on YouTube. The video went viral and received over five million views. Interest in LaBelle’s products increased and the cakes sold out in record time.

The two have stayed in touch ever since the viral video with LaBelle surprised him with a birthday homage and invited Wright to join her for her Thanksgiving celebrations at her home. Wright was also the special guest on LaBelle’s special series, which shows viewers how to make the perfect sweet potato pie using The Cooking Channel.
