Mr Trump went into quarantine on Wednesday

US President Donald Trump was hospitalized less than 24 hours after a positive coronavirus test.

Mr Trump showed “mild symptoms” of Covid-19 on Thursday after announcing that he and his wife had been quarantined late Wednesday.

He was given a drug cocktail as a “precaution,” the White House said, and felt “tired but in good spirits”.

He was taken to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

A White House spokesman said in a statement: “President Trump is still in a good mood, has mild symptoms and has worked all day.

“Out of caution and on the recommendation of his doctor and medical experts, the President will be working in the President’s offices of Walter Reed for the next few days.

“President Trump appreciates the support for both him and the first lady.”
