Twitter experiencing international service outage: Report | US & Canada

The San Francisco-based social media platform went down around 5:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.

Twitter is experiencing a worldwide service outage, US tech site The Verge reported on Thursday. The San Francisco-based social media platform went down around 5:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The last searchable tweet appeared around 5:40 p.m., according to The Verge.

Further information on the cause of the failure was not immediately available.

The failure comes just before the two US presidential candidates, President Donald Trump and Democratic challenger Joe Biden, are due to hold rival town halls on American television networks in the final weeks of the 2020 election campaign.

Twitter also made news this week for restricting access to a story published in the New York Post about Biden’s son’s alleged business relationship, which has since been criticized for its accuracy.

This is a developing story. Check for updates again.
