Roommate, we send our prayers to the family of the legendary host of “Jeopardy”, Alex Trebek. He has been reported to have passed away at the age of 80 after battling pancreatic cancer.
According to TMZ, Alex died in his home on Sunday surrounded by family and friends. As many people know, he was battling stage 4 pancreatic cancer and after announcing his diagnosis last year, he was very open to his journey. Through his treatments he even continued to host the famous show “Jeopardy”.
After Alex announced his diagnosis in March 2019, he later announced that his tumors had shrunk by more than 50% and that he was close to entering remission during his struggle in May 2019.
That August, he finished his treatments and was preparing to return to Jeopardy. Unfortunately, in September 2019, it turned out that his health was deteriorating and he had to go through another round of chemotherapy.
In October 2019, he said: “The thought of pancreatic cancer doesn’t scare me. I am 79 years old. So, hey, I’ve had a good life, a full life, and I’m nearing the end of this life. I know that.”
Despite his health problems, Alex hosted Jeopardy until the current season. Alex started hosting the show back in 1984.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the episodes of Jeopardy hosted by Alex will air until December 25th. The studio noted that his last day on the set of the show was October 29th.
Sony Entertainment Pictures added that “no plans for a new host are announced at this time”.
