AMC’s Shudder Acquires Brit Horror ‘The Energy’ Starring Rose Williams – .

EXCLUSIVE: AMC’s genre streaming service Shudder has acquired all rights to the supernatural British chiller The Power for North America, Great Britain, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.

The Power marks the directorial debut of writer and director Corinna Faith (The Innocents) and aspiring actress Rose Williams, whose credits include The CW’s Reign, Sky Original Curfew, Netflix’s Medici, and the upcoming feature Mrs Harris Goes To Paris.

The 2018 Brit List screenplay, inspired by The Woman in Black and The Others, is set in London in the 1970s during a period of power outages. While striking miners across the UK turn off electricity, a young nurse works the night shift on her first day of duty in a crumbling hospital with a dark presence lurking in the walls.

Producers are Matthew James Wilkinson (yesterday) and Rob Watson (Italian Studies). The British electronic artist Elizabeth Bernholz, better known by her stage name Gazelle Twin, composed an original score for the film with the composer Max de Wardener.

The film will premiere in service in 2021. The deal was made by Mike Runagall of Altitude Film Sales on behalf of the filmmakers and Emily Gotto for Shudder.

“With The Power, Corinna Faith has established herself as a remarkable new voice in genre cinema. We know Shudder members will be terrified by their debut feature and delighted with Rose Williams’ star performance, ”said Emily Gotto, Shudder’s director of global acquisitions and co-productions.

The producers added, “We are incredibly excited to be working with Shudder on The Power. The team at Shudder’s passion for the genre is unparalleled and we can’t wait to share the film with their equally dedicated audience. “

The film received development funds from BFI and Creative England as well as production financing from BFI and Head Gear.
