The 101 freeway was blocked and closed on Saturday evening in Hollywood by Armenian-American demonstrators against the so-called Azerbaijani aggression in their home region.

The California Highway Patrol said the 101 lanes were blocked around 9:30 p.m. and closed in both directions in Hollywood.

Traffic heading south 101 was restricted to a single lane of slow traffic, which was open by CHP as of 11 p.m. Traffic to the north continued normally.

The protest group started at the CNN building in Hollywood on Saturday, closed part of Sunset Boulevard, and then marched to 101.

The Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles issued a statement: “We want peace. However, peace can only be achieved if Armenia leaves the occupied regions of Azerbaijan and enables the displaced to return to their homeland. “
