EXCLUSIVE: CAA has signed Maria Bakalova, the breakout star from Amazon and Sacha Baron Cohen’s Borat Subsequent Moviefilm.
The film premiered on Amazon Prime on October 23rd and immediately became one of the biggest streaming hits of 2020. While the return of Kazakh television journalist Baron Cohen to America drew audiences back, Bakalova holds her own, portraying Borat’s daughter and has so much drawn praise for the debut role that many pundits believe it is even the mix for multiple awards as this year’s awards season rolls around.
The Bulgarian actress studied acting at the National School of Arts in Burgas with a major in flute and later attended the National Academy of Theater and Film Arts in Sofia.
Bakalova will continue to be assisted by Tom Jeggo from Insight Management, Julian Kostov from JupiterLights and Public Eye Communications.
