Brad Parscale, Donald Trump’s former campaign manager, gave Fox News’ Martha MacCallum his first post-election interview and criticized the president for not expressing sympathy for COVID-19.
He said the decision to “open the economy to public empathy” cost Trump’s support in the suburbs.
“We had a difference. I thought we should have public empathy, ”Parscale said. “I think people were scared. I saw people walking around me … People were scared and I think if he was publicly empathetic he would have won by a landslide. I think he could have leaned in instead of running away. “
In contrast, President-elect Joe Biden made empathy for the coronavirus crisis the centerpiece of his campaign.

Oddly enough, Parscale also noted the possibility that Trump might still win, telling MacCallum, “I think the president is clearly still able to pull this off.” However, he gave few details on how this could be done, as major swing states have already confirmed their results in Biden’s favor. Parscale said he found it “strange” that the votes were coming in “day after day” in Pennsylvania.
But it’s not uncommon: the state has been inundated with postal ballot papers that were counted by ballot papers on the same day. Trump and his allies have tried to draw attention to such a vote to arouse suspicion and undermine the integrity of the elections.
In the interview, Parscale spent most of the time pointing out that Trump was on his way to victory, but the campaign shifted gears and distracted from the plan in the final section.
Parscale was ousted as campaign manager in July and replaced by Bill Stepien. He was hospitalized the next month after barricading himself inside his Fort Lauderdale home in an incident that was captured by a police camera. He told MacCallum that his family is now in “a great place” after having “had a very stressful five years”.
He said he hasn’t spoken to Trump lately and that it was “quite hurtful” but “it’s probably as much my fault as his.”
“I love this family and have given them every inch of my life,” he said. When asked what he would say to the President, Parscale said, “Keep fighting. Do not give up. “
