CBS Boosts AOC Smear the GOP Are ‘Abusers,’ Omit Truth from Riot Story

You could feel the unity rise on the CBS Evening News Tuesday as the network gave a boost to the hideous smears of Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, NY, suggesting that the Republican Party was just a group of domestic and sexual Abusers was. Additionally, there was incredibly lazy coverage from Congressional correspondent Kris Van Cleave who failed to tell viewers that the person who knocked on Ocasio-Cortez’s door during the Capitol riot was a Capitol cop.

Van Cleave played clips from an Instagram Live she had aired the night before and showed her unsubstantiated smear from conservatives comparing her to “abusers.” In fact, he seemed to believe him:

CLEAVE: AOC spoke to 150,000+ viewers on Instagram Live, revealing that she is a sexual assault survivor and is critical of it pressure from the right to carry on after the violence.

OCASIO-CORTEZ: These people who tell us to move on, that it isn’t a big deal, that we should forget what happened, or even apologize, these are the same tactics used by abusers.

The trauma of the Capitol attack is still severe for many on the hill. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez made it easier to hide in her office bathroom“He remarked at one point. Van Cleave also played these soundbites from their stream:

OCASIO-CORTEZ: And I closed the door and keep hearing this bang, bang, bang!

(…)

OCASIO-CORTEZ: I mean, I thought I was going to die.

According to his report, only a simple bathroom door stood between the insurgent crowd and the congressman. But he left out one important detail: the person who prohibited her door was a Capitol cop who wanted to protect her.

Now the officer allegedly did not reveal who he was. So it would be understandable if Ocasio-Cortez were to fear who was outside. But we now know who it was, so CBS should have included it in the report for full context.

It wasn’t an arcane piece of knowledge either. “[The] The person in that office was a Capitol Police officer, ”noted special report host Bret Baier on the Fox News Channel. And for those who were unoriginal, arguing, “Of course a Fox News reporter would know they were obsessed with her,” NBC reported Nightly News.

“When she came out of the bathroom, she found a police officer from the Capitol. She and a staff member eventually barricaded themselves in another congressman’s office as the rioters raged, ”said Capitol Hill correspondent Kasie Hunt.

As an additional positive note on Hunt, she did not include Ocasio-Cortez’s smears against conservatives in her report.

At CBS, on the other hand, it wasn’t about unity.

CBS’s surge in ridiculous anti-conservative smears was made possible by lucrative sponsorships from Liberty Mutual. Their contact information is linked so you can let them know about the biased news they’re funding. CBS Evening News also asked people to write to Norah O’Donnell at (202) 217-1107.
