Christian-Bashing Fox Drama ‘Filthy Wealthy’ Continues Empowered ‘Sacrilegious Slut’ Trope

In three episodes, viewers can already rely on Fox ‘Filthy Rich, a wealthy televangelist family, to be as eccentric, sensational and offensive as network television allows.

The show follows the Monreauxs, led by Margaret (Kim Cattrall), after their adulterous husband Eugene (Gerald McRaney) is believed dead. The Monreauxs discover that Eugene has fathered three more children and has to deal with them, most notably Ginger Sweet (Melia Kreiling), an empowered feminist known as a “sacrilegious slut” who calls herself “this slut” as a badge of honor and one Pornography has the greatest content on the show. This week’s episode, Psalm 25: 3, October 5th, is no different.

Each episode title after the pilot is a Bible verse that Ginger will recite this week. The pilot introduced us to her page ‘Sin Wagon’. There is also “Saint Wagon”, as revealed in the second episode “John 3: 3” when Ginger emerged from her baptism in a see-through dress and applied for the spot on her body.

While this week isn’t all that insightful with implied nudity, it is significant nonetheless. Most of all, viewers get hit over the head with the news that Ginger is such an ass.

Christians are now portrayed as hateful and intolerant; For example, the angry people protesting Ginger off-show, including a man calling them “You filthy, sick whore!” is called.

A consistent theme is how kinky the show is. Everyone is trying to get ahead with the Monreaux Sunshine Network. Does Margaret use her network to get to Ginger? Is ginger? Are there any others? Who cares if such confusion is the least offensive part.

Margaret put Ginger on her show to discuss the baptism from the previous episode, which gives Ginger the opportunity to talk about feminism and “holy prostitutes”, compare herself to God, and recite the title verse of the Bible to suit her lifestyle justify.

Margaret: I’m not a firefighter, I’m just a worried mother, [murmurs from the crowd] and I want this to be a teachable moment for everyone because I believe that There are very good people on both sides this situation. [Ginger laughs] Why are you laughing honey

Ginger: Definitely keep going.

Margaret: Okay. Well, I want to start by saying that I don’t think that you are a bad person.

Ginger: Thank you.

Margaret: But what you did … well, it hurt me. That hurt a lot of people. You turned our Most Holy Supper into a wet t-shirt contest and I just wonder, do you think the 2.5 billion people who believe in Christ are stupid?

Ginger: No, not me. Oh. I believe in Christ, but is there no room in this dialogue for opposing, provocative thinking?

Margaret: Oh, did you do that and provoke an intellectually stimulating dialogue?

Ginger: Well, that’s why you invited me here, isn’t it? For a teachable moment.

Margaret: I’m just trying to help you understand your actions – they have consequences.

Ginger: Oh. So the stalkers, the hate mail, the spitting – I asked about it? (Laughs) Margaret, who is really feminist, was really supportive.

Margaret: Is it feminist to sell your body on the internet?

Ginger: yes. My body is mine. I say what happens to it. I say what I do with it.

Margaret: So every prostitute is a feminist?

Ginger: Hmm. I didn’t say that, and please don’t conclude that I am a prostitute, that there is something wrong with that. There have always been holy prostitutes, Ishtar, Aphrodite. People understood that bodies should be celebrated. Psalm 25: 3: “No one who hopes in you will ever be ashamed, but those who are treacherous for no reason will be ashamed.”

Margaret: The “you” in this scripture is God, not ginger sweet. (Audience laughs)

Ginger: Well what’s the difference when we bring both people to ecstasy? (Audience calls out)

Margaret: Oh, you really play with fire.

Ginger: Oh, I haven’t even lit the match yet. (Audience exclaims) Men come to us in despair and we honor their trust. We offer what you clearly cannot get at home.

Margaret: Well, caring for a man is much more than just taking off your clothes. Isn’t that right, ladies? (Cheers and applause)

Ginger: Well, if you had taken care of Eugene, he wouldn’t have had to get off with my mom in Las Vegas. Hello mom when you’re watching. And make no mistake, Margaret. It wasn’t just sex. Eugene loved her. He came to her to save herand she gave him what you couldn’t. Do you have something to say?

Then a Christian demonstrator who pretends to be a PA has to stick it to Ginger and shout: “Red in Hell, you sinner!” while throwing a red slushy at her while the show comes back from the commercial. Ginger is furious and thinks Margaret set her up.

Most, if not all, of these Christians are terrible to God. The latest episodes started with Becky Monreaux (Olivia Macklin), despite being as intolerant and judgmental as possible in her prayers. And it’s only a matter of time before the secret of Reverend Paul Luke Thomas (Aaron Lazar) is revealed.

It turns out that of the men who “desperately seek connection” come to Ginger, many of them are Christians. This includes concerned investors who introduced this episode and “People in Margaret’s audience, her friends” who are recognized customers. Ginger then decides, “The next time either of them logs in, record them. Record them all.”

Eugene and Margaret’s son, Eric (Corey Cott), a married man whose wife is pregnant, has developed feelings for a woman with whom he regularly chats about Sin Wagon. Like an idiot, in this predictable story, Eric shows his face for the first time when the recording started.
