“Coming 2 America” Sequel Reportedly Bought To Amazon Studios For $125M

Roommates, if you’re waiting for the sequel to Coming 2 America, don’t wait any longer. According to IndieWire, the 1988 sequel Eddie Murphy Classic, supposedly sold to Amazon Studios for a total of $ 125 million and will be available on December 18th.

According to diversityIndie Wire reports that the film will premiere on Amazon Prime on December 18, and is believed to bypass theaters as the pandemic battles for the exhibition sector.

As previously reported, Coming 2 America focuses on Prince Akeem’s return to America when he discovers he has a long-lost son. The film is directed by Craig Brewer with a script by black Creator Kenya Barris and is expected to hit theaters in 2020.

The film is set on fire because several people have repeated their roles. As we previously reported, Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall, James Earl Jones, John Amos, Paul Bates, Wesley Snipes, KiKi Layne, Rick Ross, Leslie Jones and Jermaine Fowler will be part of the cast of ‘Coming 2 America’.

Eddie Murphy won his first Emmy just last month for his guest role on “Saturday Night Live”.

This was the 59-year-old’s first nomination in 21 years, but his fifth nomination overall. He was last nominated for Outstanding Animation (for an hour or less) for Fox ‘The PJs in 1999, according to People.

In December, Murphy repeated some of his most famous SNL characters when he hosted the show for the first time in 35 years.
