‘Democracy in Jeopardy:’ ABC’s ‘Black-ish’ Pushes ‘Conspiracy In opposition to Us Voting’

ABC’s most popular racial comedy, Black-ish, hit our TV screens earlier than expected Sunday night (its season doesn’t officially start until late October) to bring us a two-episode talk on the presidential election and the American voting process. Given the history of the show, we could already imagine the kind of left bias emerging before the episodes even started.

The first episode begins with Junior (Marcus Scribner) being struck off the electoral roll despite having registered for the first time and ready to vote in the presidential election. This leads to a sketch in which his father Dre (Andre Johnson) hosts “Democracy in Jeopardy” – “all the fun in trivia and all the injustice of the American political system:”

Dre: Our next question – who will vote the winner of a presidential election?

Josh: The American people.

Charlie: The Illuminati.

Miss Biggs: The electoral college.

Dre: Good for you, for $ 100. The president is elected by an unelected group of 538 people whom you have never heard of. Who are you? How did you get there? You will never know.

Charlie: Um, that’s the Illuminati definition.

Dre: Judge? Uh … well, the judges say they can’t prove you’re wrong, so Charlie, you get $ 100.

Charlie: Yeah! Can I get this out now?

Dre: Our next question. Right or wrong – even with the electoral college, everyone’s vote counts for the president.

Josh: Right. One person, one voice.

Dre: Oh. We are sorry. The answer is wrong. States with smaller populations get more power. So if you are from Wyoming, congratulations! And if you’re from California, prepare for the big one. But you are better off than anyone in Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, as well as any other less vacation-rich US territory. They don’t have a say in who the president is, but luckily they can still pay taxes.

Dre: All right. Here is our final question. Why was the electoral college established?

Charlie: Illuminati! It has to … It has to be the Illuminati.

Dre: Oh. Sorry Charlie. The answer is slavery. The answer is almost always slavery. Did you know that four of the first five presidents were from the south? The other, John Adams, was from Boston in the south-north. Oh oh. Looks like we’re running out of time. Let’s add up the scores and see who our winner is for today. OK. It looks like our winner is Contestant One!

Josh: Yeah!

Miss Biggs: What? But I win.

Dre: Oh. You won. But your points only count for three fifths of a white man.

Funny, I don’t remember anyone complaining about the electoral college when Obama won. And how does a black man win a presidential election when America is so racist and oppresses black voters? Never mind that even the liberal New York Times debunked the claim that the electoral college was racist and labeled it a “myth”. Because emotions are about facts, right?

Junior questions the system after the game show. He learns how the fifteenth amendment was undermined by literacy tests and how much of the 1965 Suffrage Act was “torn out” by the Supreme Court. Junior then explains, “The system keeps finding ways to make sure our voices don’t matter! You know I’m starting to believe that this country is not what I thought. “

After Junior Diane’s sister plays a montage of a young black woman who cannot vote because of obstacles such as long lines, which are also said to represent a conspiracy to suppress the black voice, Junior is even angrier and proclaims: “The greatest trick the Founding Fathers ever did was convince us that we were a real democracy. “(Note: The United States should never be a direct democracy.)

Dre then says in a voice over: “America didn’t want blacks to vote since this country became a country. He has learned that the system is not broken. It works exactly as it was designed. “

Dre further agrees that it “a conspiracy to vote against us“He says,” The machine was built to keep us away. But the only time things have changed in this country is when people have done everything they can to have their votes counted. From the Civil War to women’s suffrage to the civil rights movement, America got better when more people voted. “

So what is it America corrected its mistakes in the past and got better until a black could become president? Or that America is still conspiring against black voters? Looks like Black-ish wants us to believe it is the latter.

Junior votes at the end by postal vote and will certainly send it in early because “They are doing everything possible to slow down the mail service. ”Who is that” she “? By the way, the mail was slower due to COVID-19. But let’s buy a racist conspiracy theory instead. #Twist eyes

The second episode is in comic book form and begins with praise for AOC for “moving from making margaritas in Manhattan to history in Congress”. Then Dre emphasizes in his usual voice-over: “Anyone can walk into the White House from the annex, regardless of their background. You just have to have what it takes. “Confusing news again. Is the system working or not? You can’t have it both ways.

Dre’s boss, Mr. Stevens, the show’s cartoon for a deaf, racist, and ignorant white man, decides to run for Congress.

Dre is surprised to hear his black coworker support Charlie Stevens’ campaign. At this point, we are faced with racism against whites, classicism, and a confrontation with Citizens United, just as Newbusters predicted:

Dre: Do you support that, Charlie?

Charlie: There’s always room for a black guy in a campaign like this. Bush had Powell, Trump had Carson, Obama had … Obama.

How did you even get to vote?

Stevens: I am a rich white man. I asked. Gentlemen, I think it’s time for me to have my picture taken with an eagle. Be careful with this bird. It was a Christmas present from Ted Nugent.

Dre: Well you will never believe what Stevens says he will do.

Diane: Chasing Josh for sport?

Zoey: Fund a South American coup?

Junior: De-integrate baseball?

Pops: Stop calling Inglewood a “basketball district”?

Dre: No, he’s going to run for Congress!

Bow: Oh. Well that makes sense.

Dre: How does that make sense?

Bow: It’s normal for people like him – when the Viennese pills no longer work, they try to kid the country.

Pops: The problem is that white men don’t know how to get bored. That is why they always open vineyards.

Dre: Well he’s wasting his time. As soon as Ronan Farrow receives this folder labeled “Do not show Ronan Farrow”, it will be over.

Diane: Well, I am for it. I am for anything that brings us closer to the collapse of society.

Dre: Don’t be too excited. Stevens doesn’t stand a chance.

Ruby: I wouldn’t be so sure. A tall white man with all of his original hair? He already got my vote.

Pops: Mm-hmm. My Also. I like that he’s a bad person. A politician should be ready to get their hands dirty. Marion Barry bought crack. Are you telling me he can’t deal with the parking department?

Dre: Guys, you really think Stevens can be elected?

Junior: Dad, I’m totally with you. What are his chances? He’s sexist, touchless, completely amoral – Oh God. He will win.

Dre decides to run himself, and Junior makes a video call with electoral conspiracy theorist Stacey Abrams, who tells Dre he doesn’t stand a chance but encourages them all to vote early by postal vote.

Dre almost falls in love with the corrupt claims of a stranger funding his campaign and then turns against him. He says, “When you have to take millions of private interests to run, there is no way that principles can come first. Even an honest man has no chance. “Does that mean he is admitting that Obama was not being honest and that special interests come first?

He continues, “People, we need to reduce corporate influence on politics, stop campaigning unlimited money, and track where the funds are coming from.”

Well, if all of this is any indication of how the new season of blackness will begin in late October, we will definitely expect much more liberal lectures and racist conspiracy theories about this great country. Sad.
