‘Hatfields & McCoys’ Producer Traces Up Milton Hershey Biopic – .

EXCLUSIVE: American producer Joanne Rubino (Hatfields & McCoys), former President of Production at Think Factory Media, launches Be Brave Media in LA with a series of projects including a biography of ‘Chocolate King’ Milton Hershey.

Be Brave will develop, package and produce three to six projects a year. The budget ranges of the films and TV series vary.

Hershey will record how Milton Hershey’s journey began as a teenager in rural Pennsylvania. He then found and ran one of the world’s leading pastry chefs and became a leading businessman and philanthropist. The MS Hershey Foundation, the Hershey Company, and the Hershey Trust Company have given the production team access to the Hershey Community Archives, including pictures, documents and other private archival material.

Rubino produces with the frequent collaborator and partner Darla Marasco from Marasco Media. Rubino also wrote the script together with Sam Juergens and David Juergens, who first brought her the project.

As announced last week, Rubino is also introducing the film Slinky, which is about the true story of the iconic toy and how Betty James took over the troubled business after her husband left her with her six children and an almost bankrupt company, it but had managed to turn it into a gold mine. Tamra Davis (Billy Madison) is on board to direct. Be Brave Media produces in collaboration with the toy company Just Play.

Prior to founding Be Brave, Rubino was President of Production for Think Factory Media in LA, which ITV acquired in 2013. Her production credits include Hatfields & McCoys, America’s Feud: Hatfields & McCoys, Sun Records, and Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Michel’le.

Rubino said, “When I started Be Brave Media, I made a decision to step off the beaten path and challenge the misnomer that people need to stay on a certain track in order to be successful. Successful producers are flexible, collaborative and change agents who understand how the industry is changing. How and where we consume media and how we access media has forever changed the landscape of film and television, but one thing that will never change is the audience’s desire to get lost in a great story and just be entertained to become. ”
