Last week’s season seven finale tonight with John Oliver wasted no time getting into the main story: the 2020 election. Yes, although the election took place over two weeks ago, it is still in the game. Oliver said he would much rather have spent his time talking about the rare yellow turtle that the internet fumbled about. He had to talk about Donald Trump – or in his words “this is a ** hole”.

Of course, he responded to Trump’s refusal to admit. He said his actions were not surprising, but it was disappointing to see “sh * t” like Secretary of State Mike Pompeo saying things like “there will be a smooth transition to a second Trump administration”.

“What the hell are you talking about your ‘business grimace’?” Oliver dragged Pompeo. He went on, like most Republicans like Pompeo and Mitch McConnell, refuse to recognize Joe Biden as the president-elect. McConnell defended Trump, saying he did not have to cheerfully accept the election results.
