Vice President Kamala Harris will address the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards 2021 on Saturday.
Harris, introduced by Jennifer Garner, will appear as part of the Generation Change presentation of the Special, ViacomCBS’s initiative that connects leaders and others with children to create change through civic engagement. Over the past several years, Generation Change has recognized LeBron James and Megan Rapinoe.
Marva Smalls, ViacomCBS director of inclusion and executive vice president of public affairs, children and family entertainment, said in a statement that Harris “is a pioneer and role model for all of us, but especially for today’s children, the inspiration in the EU can find history of her way forward and the barriers she has broken from childhood to today. Nickelodeon is proud to present this year’s Generation Change Award to children everywhere, and we are honored that the Vice President continues to unleash the courage and vitality they have after so many challenges. “
The event began at 7:30 p.m. ET / PT. Kenan Thompson will host and there will be performances by Justin Bieber.
It is not unprecedented that the show features personalities from politics and public service. The Kids’ Choice Awards over the past few years have attracted personalities like First Lady Michelle Obama, and the ceremony also recognized the high school reform protester March for Our Lives.
