Kentucky Legal professional Basic Daniel Cameron To Have Authorities-Funded Armed Safety For Him & His Household Following ‘Credible Threats’

Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron, who has been vetted for his handling of the Breonna Taylor case, will now have armed security guards to protect him and his family by the end of the year after receiving security threats, according to CNN. The Government Contract Review Committee approved Daniel Cameron’s security request after receiving “several serious, credible threats to the attorney general’s health, welfare and safety,” according to his office records.

The contract is allegedly retroactive from August 26th and expires on December 31st, 2020. The award to protect Cameron and his family has been approved up to $ 300,000.

“Our office has received detailed threats against the attorney general, his wife and members of his family,” Cameron’s office told CNN in a statement. “The attorney general’s protection detail noted that given the credibility of such threats, additional staff and resources were required to maintain an adequate level of security.”

The Criminal Investigation Department found the threats credible and tried other ways to provide security, according to a memo sent out by the Attorney General’s office.

Officials reportedly sought help from the Kentucky State Police, local law enforcement agencies and key security providers, but were unable to reach an agreement due to several issues.

Cameron has been under fire for months for refusing to bring charges against the officers who killed Breonna Taylor. However, when he brought the case to the grand jury in September, it got real, only to announce that there would be no charges directly related to her death.

One of the three officers who shot her home in her sleep was charged with wanton harm for endangering her neighbors with his gunfire.

Cameron has since released footage of the grand jury to provide transparency into the process, but lawyers for Breonna’s family have called for a new prosecutor.

Additionally, Cameron recently filed a motion banning jurors from speaking on the case.
