Roommate Attorney General Bill Barr just released a statement calling on federal prosecutors nationwide to investigate “voting irregularities” following a request from the Trump administration following the election of Joe Biden as president. It should be noted that there is no evidence of electoral fraud in relation to the presidential election, although Donald Trump and his cabinet keep suggesting otherwise.

Bill Barr’s action comes days after Joe Biden defeated Donald Trump and raises the prospect that Trump will use the Justice Department to try to question the outcome. It gives prosecutors the option to bypass the Justice Department’s longstanding policy, which normally prohibits such overt acts before the election is confirmed.

Trump did not concede the election, instead claiming without evidence that there was widespread Democratic conspiracy in several states to skew the vote in Biden’s favor. Bill Barr is also a very close associate of Trump, and many political experts believe his decision is an attempt to appease Trump who refuses to accept his loss.

Biden has a considerable head start in several battlefield states, and there is no evidence that enough miscounted or illegally cast votes would alter the outcome. In fact, election officials from both political parties have publicly stated that the elections went well, although there were minor issues typical of elections, including breaking voting machines and ballot papers that were misplaced and lost.
