McDonald’s Pronounces New Plant-Based mostly Burger The McPlant

Roommate, McDonald’s just announced its plans to take full advantage of plant-based menu items. The popular fast food chain will unveil its upcoming McPlant burger sometime in 2021.

“There are other plant-based burgers out there, but the McPlant delivers our iconic taste in a kind of sandwich that you sink your teeth into (and wipe your mouth). It’s made with a succulent, plant-based patty and served on a warm sesame bun with all the classic toppings, ”McDonald’s said in a statement.

According to reports, some restaurant markets will be testing the McPlant burger next year. Whether the vegan-friendly burger arrives in the US or not and a possible schedule was not immediately known.

In a move that could usher in a new round of the Chicken Sandwich War, McDonald’s also confirmed that its new Crispy Chicken Sandwich would arrive in the US early next year during the virtual investor update on Monday.

“McPlant is manufactured by McDonald’s exclusively for McDonald’s,” said Ian Borden, international president of McDonald’s, at the investor meeting. “In the future, McPlant could extend to a range of plant-based products, including burgers, chicken substitutes and breakfast rolls.”

The plant-based and chicken sandwich announcements were part of the company’s new growth strategy called “Accelerating the Arches,” which includes a core menu commitment.

McDonald’s stands behind its competition in introducing a plant-based burger in the US. In 2019, Burger King launched the Impossible Whopper with a vegetable patty from food startup Impossible Foods, the maker of Impossible patty.
