Meghan McCain Faculties Co-hosts Laughing Off Biden’s ‘Neanderthals’ Diss: Reminds Me of Hillary’s ‘Deplorables’

Meghan McCain trained her co-hosts at The View Friday after laughing at the conservative “outrage” over President Biden for insulting red state leaders who overturned masked mandates as “Neanderthals”.

Every liberal host was happy to mock the conservatives during the president’s divisive trash talk. After all, Conservatives were “anti-science” and Biden was right to insult them, and Trump was so much worse that nothing that insults Biden compares, they argued:

SUNNY HOSTIN: [Y]You know, all the pearl that clings to language is real [scoffs] Something to me when you for four years – of someone who spoke in the lowest – lowest of terms, humiliating and humiliating people. I think President Biden has a right to feel that way. Frankly, the Neanderthal thinks he should lift these restrictions and lift the mask mandate. I think he actually phrased the term nicely. I don’t think so – I think I would have called it something worse than Neanderthals, quite frankly.

SARA HAINES: [I]It’s kind of an uncivilized decision not to wear a mask when science is speaking loud and clear, and I think, as Sunny mentioned, it’s on the heels of someone who could offend people four times in one sentence and pick on an extinct Homo sapien seems like pretty safe ground to me.

ANA NAVARRO: [I] I think they expect all week screaming and clutching their pearls with Mr. Potato’s head in a purse, with Dr. Seuss and now with Neanderthals.

But after all the ridicule, Meghan McCain taught her co-hosts how to express Biden’s hypocrisy and was a sign of the left’s contempt for the right, citing Hillary Clinton’s similar “deplorable” comment:

Unfortunately, I think the problem is, when you are President Biden you said that this is going to be the soul of the nation that is coming back. We will see a complete and utter paradigm shift. Angels will come down from heaven and there will be nothing but unity in the land. It reminds me of Hillary Clinton’s unfortunate comment that many people copied on the left, and it really hurt her. It is a self inflicted wound. You can laugh and say, oh it’s a joke or whatever, but Republicans all over the country already feel like the people on the left think they’re stupid red necks, they’re just stupid grievances in baskets and nobody cares about their trucks and flags. That’s what Republicans think the media thinks of them, and that’s why I was surprised to hear him throw that language around … I think if Jen Psaki blows away Republican questions and Republican talking points, that’s all it is does to help Republicans be tribal and think we are just unfortunate Neanderthals. The left has no place for us so there is no unity at all, and I think it’s – I think it’s really unfortunate. I do not like it at all.

She also noted that the president’s “bigger problem” was his hiding from the press after the White House video feed was remarkably abruptly interrupted on Wednesday after asking questions from the press. McCain pointed out the huge difference between Biden and his predecessors, who are open to the press:

I also think he’s having much bigger problems right now, including the fact that he hasn’t had a press conference. In fact, he is the first president in 100 years not to hold a press conference in the first 23 days. President Trump did – I’m sorry. The first 100 days. President Trump did it – Obama did it in the first 20 days and President Trump did it in 27 days …

Joy Behar tried to defend Biden and Clinton, saying nothing is as bad as what Trump said:

“I think the deplorable word came before Trump before we knew how unfortunate he was. In response to Trump, nothing sounds so bad because he was so bad, ”she explained.

Behar tried to claim that Trump was less open to the press: “He was afraid to take calls. He would do it on the tarmac at airports! ” She added.

McCain pushed back on that too. “But it was President Trump who did one-on-one interviews with the press corps, which President Biden did not. ” she pointed out, citing the viral video of the WH feed that was cut.

McCain closed the segment, creating a point of media coverage hypocrisy in presidential rhetoric:

I’ll also say that President Trump called the gang group MS-13 animals and the media skipped over it for weeks. I have no problem labeling vicious gang members as animals, and that was something the media just ran into, and I think if it’s not okay to label gang members as animals, then it’s okay to call Republicans Who you know are in the middle of the land “Neanderthals” just seems like a lot of hypocrisy.

JOY BEHAR: Isn’t that outrage or is that a real problem Meghan?

MEGHAN MCCAIN: I don’t actually think this will be made. This is how Republicans think the media thinks of them, and that’s why I was surprised to hear him throw that language around.

I also think he’s having much bigger problems right now, including the fact that he hasn’t had a press conference. In fact, he is the first president in 100 years not to hold a press conference in the first 23 days. President Trump did – I’m sorry. The first 100 days. President Trump did it – Obama did it in the first 20 days and President Trump did it in 27 days. I think that just didn’t help, and I think if Jen Psaki blows away Republican questions and Republican topics of conversation, it just helps Republicans to be tribesmen and think we’re just unfortunate Neanderthals. The left has no place for us so there is no unity at all, and I think it’s – I think it’s really unfortunate. I do not like it at all.

JOY BEHAR: I think the deplorable word came before Trump before we knew how unfortunate he was. In response to Trump, nothing sounds so bad because he was so bad, and then he had – he might have had a conference right away, you know, his press conference, but then he dropped out. We never saw him again. He was afraid to take calls. He would do it on the tarmac at airports, and Joe Biden has accomplished many things in a very short time, too.

MCCAIN: But it was President Trump who did one-on-one interviews with the press corps, which President Biden didn’t. In fact, he has a video that went viral and says we’re waiting to speak to the press and then it just goes to a gray screen. There is confusion as to why he is not in front of the press corps now.

BEHAR: No, but let’s remember what you say there and what has just been corrected. He didn’t call people Neanderthals, he said it was Neanderthal thinking.

MCCAIN: potato, potato.
