Many comic book fans may already be familiar with the Static Shock character, which was later turned into an animated series in 2000. Now the electromagnetic superhero is getting his own film, and Michael B. Jordan is now on board as a producer as one of the project members.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, MBJ is accompanying Reginald Hudlin on the project and will produce through his company Outlier Society. The project was first revealed in August during DC’s FanDome event.
Michael expressed enthusiasm for working on the project and said, “I am proud to be part of building a new universe centered around black superheroes. Our church deserves it. The Outlier Society is committed to bringing various comic content to life across all platforms. We are excited to be working with Reggie and Warner Bros on this first step. “
Static Shock first appeared in the comic book world in 1993. It was founded by Milestone Comics founders Dwayne McDuffie, Denys Cowan, Michael Davis and Derek T. Dingle.
Years later, the Static Shock character had his own animated series on Kid’s WB. The show lasted four seasons and officially ended in 2004.
Michael B. Jordan fans already know he’s no stranger to the superhero world. He starred in the 2018 box office hit Black Panther as the movie’s villain, Killmonger, and he also starred and produced the Netflix series Raising Dion, which focuses on a young superhero who is acting on adjusts his powers.
