Morning Joe Hysteria: Trump Will Attempt to Pardon Himself Earlier than Leaving Workplace!

Put on your aluminum foil hats! MSNBC’s Morning Joe Monday, host Joe Scarborough and several guests got together to discuss some of the conspiracy theories surrounding President Trump, including whether he will try to apologize to himself before leaving office in January.

After Morning Joe’s insane discussion forum suggested that the FBI hire a spy team to monitor Donald Trump after he resigned to prevent him from betraying the United States, he turned to the next ridiculous conspiracy: ob President Trump will forgive himself before he leaves the office.

According to Scarborough, Trump will try to apologize for the baseless allegations that the liberal media has wept over the past four years (aka the Russia Conspiracy): “This is where Donald Trump pardons people who were involved a possible Conspiracy he – he could have been a part of. We have – you know, we had all these administrative officials at the start of the Trump presidency, err, about their contacts with Russia. “

From a legal standpoint, Scarborough asked Dave Aronberg, a frequent guest and dependably trump-hating attorney for Palm Beach County, Florida:

Yeah, and so, Dave, let me ask you – of course the question a lot of people are asking, um, the president’s power to forgive himself. There were many theories in Washington, DC. Would the president try to forgive himself? Some Trump insiders believe the court would not confirm this, and wonder if Trump stepped down the day before – and – and allows Pence to apologize for him and his entire family. Um, we can’t speculate about this, but any idea whether the Supreme Court would allow a president to forgive himself?

Aronberg, who doubted Trump would have the constitutional ability to grant himself a pardon, still ended on a “positive” note, confident that he will be somehow prosecuted after leaving the White House:

But the greatest existential threat to this president is the case in Manhattan from my colleague Cyrus Vance Jr., who has tracked and will get President Trump’s taxes. And once he has them, he can use them to criminally accuse the president. And you know, he’s been doing this research for a couple of years. You are not doing a multi-year investigation that is nothing based. You have to have evidence to get this far. And these prosecutors are forgivable. The president cannot forgive himself. No one can forgive him from a prosecutor, which is another reason for that the task of Prosecutor or district attorney is the best job in the world. Because the attorney general isn’t your boss. The president, not your boss.

Despite Joe Biden winning the 2020 presidential election, Scarborough and friends on MSNBC continue to show their insecurity. At this rate, their obsession with Donald Trump will continue long after he leaves the White House.

JOE SCARBOROUGH: Let’s talk about the pardon power. Here Donald Trump pardons people who were involved in a possible conspiracy in which he – he could have been involved. We have – you know, we had all these administrative officials through our teeth at the start of the Trump presidency, left and right right, um, about their contacts with Russia. At the top of that list was a guy who admitted he’d done it twice – um, in court and – and apologized. Donald Trump said he had to fire him for lying to the Vice President and the FBI. And yet, at the end of the term, after spending three years nodding and winking to Flynn that he would get an apology if he didn’t cooperate, what does he get? An apology.

DAVE ARONBERG [STATE ATTY, PALM BEACH CO., FLA.]: Joe, I’m concerned about that too. I don’t think we’ve seen a precedent for an American president to grant a pardon to someone who may involve them in a crime, and Trump knows it looks bad so he didn’t have to do it himself. He wanted Attorney General Bill Barr to issue a DOJ pardon designed only to completely drop the entire case against Michael Flynn, and he did just that. But it was so outrageous, so unethical, so unprecedented that Judge Emmet Sullivan refused to participate, and in that sense the rule of law was upheld because Judge Sullivan forced the President’s hand – forced his hands to get dirty. Because the president’s pardon is broad and constitutional, in contrast to the DOJ’s pardon, which is completely unethical. Uh, but President Trump knows it made him look bad. So he apologized on the eve of Thanksgiving. And it could hurt him significantly too, because now that he has issued that pardon, Flynn can be called to Congress to testify under oath about Trump and Russia and not receive the protection of the Fifth Amendment against self-blame because he’s in no danger who made the accusation because he was pardoned. This opens up a whole new can of worms for the president, and if Flynn is under oath he can still be charged with perjury, which is why the president wanted Bill Barr to do this instead of himself.

SCARBOROUGH: Yeah, and so, Dave, let me ask you – of course the question a lot of people are asking themselves right now, um, the president’s power to forgive himself.

ARONBERG: Joe, I don’t think so. This issue has never been ruled by the courts, but if you look at the Constitution it says the President has the power to grant pardons. Generally, when you grant something, it is for other people, not for yourself. Also, there is an exception for impeachment, which implies that the Constitution did not want the president to forgive himself for failing to get out of impeachment , um, for that. I think the courts will rule against the president for that. I also think that maybe it doesn’t even matter because he can try to step back early and let Pence forgive him. Or try to forgive yourself. And these prosecutors are pardon-proof. The president cannot forgive himself. No one can forgive him from a prosecutor, which is another reason why the job of a prosecutor or district attorney is the best job in the world. Because the attorney general isn’t your boss. The president, not your boss.
