NBC Wished Electoral Faculty Abolished, Now Cheer Biden Affirmation

Few things were a better example of the liberal media’s hypocrisy than when they praised something they wanted to destroy. The latest version of this comes from Monday’s NBC Nightly News, in which presenter Lester Holt and justice correspondent Pete Williams celebrated the electoral college that confirmed President-elect Biden’s victory. But for the past four years, NBC has been promoting the abolition of the electoral college because of President Trump’s 2016 victory.

President-elect Joe Biden today took another decisive step towards the White House and formalized his victory with the vote of the country’s electorate known as the Electoral College“Holt announced happily before handing it to Williams.

When the video portion of Williams’ report began, the correspondent stated: “This is the actual vote for the President (…) 538 presidential elections were held across the country and promised to vote for the winner of the referendum in their states.

Of course, it included footage of Georgian politician Stacey Abrams, who continued to make false claims that voter suppression was the reason she lost her race for governor.

“This process – almost as old as the nation – has never received so much attention“Added Williams.

But that’s not true. At least not on NBC.

Almost four years ago, NBC’s political director Chuck Todd promoted so-called unfaithful voters to overthrow the will of American voters (you know what Williams touted above) and the elimination of the electoral process (click “Expand”):

Electoral College members meet in less than a week to elect the President of the United States. But there is a growing group of them who want to do anything but formal. Remember that the Constitution does not oblige voters to follow the state’s referendum. Most states have passed laws to enforce this. Harvard professor and former Democratic presidential candidate Lawrence Lessig told me today that he is aware of at least 20 Republican voters who are considering casting a vote for someone other than Donald Trump.

Todd mistakenly suggested that the Founding Fathers created the electoral college as a sort of custodian for the rubles in rural parts of the country, so only the national referendum should count:

My point is, Electoral College was the idea, a college of influencers, right, to decide whether the American public made the right decision. If you will never allow them to wield that power, why then? I am not saying that you are getting rid of the electoral college and the idea that a state is worth a certain number of delegates. Then turn it into a delegate.

That was four years ago. But NBC’s drive to dismantle the US Constitution hadn’t let up.

Just a year and a half ago, NBC approved the abolition of the electoral college in their “My big ideaSeries in which correspondent Harry Smith tried to massage and normalize radical democratic proposals. And in an interview with Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Smith stated that abolishing the electoral college “strengthen American democracy” somehow.

The referendum presidency is easy for Democrats to accept, but Republicans who defend the red state of rural states will surely pull out“Smith reprimanded.

Yet Williams boasted on Monday: “The number of campaigns is now down to a trickle without a single major Trump victory. and legal experts say after today’s vote, the ability to change the outcome in court is gone.“”

It’s amazing how the attitude of the liberal media changed when they got their way.

LESTER HOLT: President-elect Joe Biden took another crucial step towards the White House today with the vote of the country’s voters, known as the Electoral College, formalizing his victory. This is Pete Williams.

[Cuts to video]

PETE WILLIAMS: This is the actual vote for the president.

UNIDENTIFIED MAN 1:20 votes for the honorable Joseph R. Biden.

UNIDENTIFIED MAN 2: For President Donald J. Trump.

STACEY ABRAMS (D-GA): Joseph R. Biden received 16 votes for President of the United States.

WILLIAMS: 538 presidential voters met across the country and pledged to vote for the referendum winner in their states.

GOV. CHRIS SUNUNU (R-NH): It is not just tradition, but to show people that our system works more than ever.

WILLIAMS: That process – almost as old as the nation – has never received so much attention. In Michigan, the state capital where voters met was closed to normal business operations due to security concerns.

As expected, Joe Biden received 306 votes. Donald Trump 232. “In this struggle for the soul of America, democracy prevailed,” said Biden in remarks prepared for a speech tonight.

The number of election lawsuits is now down to a trickle without a single significant Trump victory, and legal experts say after today’s vote, the ability to change the outcome in court is gone.

EDWARD FOLEY (Director of the Moritz College of Election Law): Everything to date was the prelude to this official moment today. And the Constitution makes today both the day and the last day.

WILLIAMS: The electoral college ballots are now going to Washington to be counted in a joint session of Congress on January 6th. But President Trump still refuses to admit. And today one of his closest advisors told Fox News that his supporters will cast their own ballots.

STEPHEN MILLER: An alternate electoral roll in the disputed states will vote and we will send those results to Congress. This will ensure that all of our remedies remain open.

[Cuts back to live]

WILLIAMS: But there is no way to officially submit such an alternate electoral roll. Also, both the House and Senate would have to vote to accept them, which will not happen to the Democrats who control the House. Lester?

HOLT: Pete Williams tonight, thank you.
