Everyone is already paying close attention to the Senate runoff elections that will take place in Georgia in January.
If Democrats win, they have just enough seats to take control of the Senate.
When Republicans win, they keep control of the body. A majority of voters want Republicans to stay in command, according to a new poll.

According to a new poll from Harvard CAPS-Harris, the majority of voters want Republicans to retain control of the Senate in the New Year after the Georgia runoff elections.
Fifty-six percent of voters said they wanted a split government with Republicans in control of the upper chamber. This is based on data released exclusively for The Hill.
Forty-four percent of voters said they wanted the Democrats to control the Senate.
“As of now, voters want a split government, and their votes for the Senate and House of Representatives show that too,” said Mark Penn, electoral officer for Harvard CAPS-Harris. “However, this is a strong headwind for the Democrats in the special elections [President] Trump’s ongoing failure to admit could tarnish the waters here. “
The poll comes weeks after both Georgia Senate races ran into the runoff election after all four candidates failed the state’s 50 percent threshold required to win the election.
