Peter Dinklage To Star In Legendary’s ‘Poisonous Avenger’ Reboot – .

EXCLUSIVE: Peter Dinklage continues to build a strong movie in his post-Game of Thrones career and seems to have found his next big project. He will star in Legendary’s new film Toxic Avenger. Macon Blair is on board to direct.

The Toxic Avenger is a contemporary take on Troma Entertainment’s hit 1984 hit low budget action comedy. It is full of environmental themes and undermines the Deadpool-style superhero genre. When a struggling Jedermann is pushed into a vat of toxic waste, he turns into a mutated freak who has to go from being shunned outcast to being an outsider hero in order to save his son, friends and community from the forces of corruption and greed. Tromas Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz will act as producers.

The Toxic Avenger became a hit as a midnight movie in New York City after a long time, and resulted in sequels to The Toxic Avenger Part II, The Toxic Avenger Part III: The Last Temptation of Toxie and Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV to an incidental music production, an animated series for children and a Marvel comic.

Dinklage has done a good job over the past few years balancing the hilarious tentpole imagery with prestige dramas, even as he continued to hire Emmys for his iconic role as Tyrion Lannister on GoT. His recent films include Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War, X-Men: Future Days, My Dinner With Herve, and the thriller I Care Alot, which premiered at this year’s Toronto Film Festival with Netflix distribution rights.

It is repeated by CAA and Jackoway Austen.

Blair made his directorial debut with the acclaimed Netflix release “I Don’t Feel At Home In This World” starring Melanie Lynskey and Elijah Wood. The film won the Grand Jury Award at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. He was executive producer on Jeremy Saulnier’s 2013 film Blue Ruin.
