Petition To Make ‘Studying Rainbow’s’ LeVar Burton The New Host Of ‘Jeopardy!’ Beneficial properties Traction, LeVar Responds

It goes without saying that the icon Alex Trebek is irreplaceable. It was in many of our homes and in our grandparents’ homes every evening and its effect will be remembered forever.

After Trebek “Jeopardy!” Has been giving for 36 years, it is noted that he left some large shoes to fill. In an effort to see who will be Trebek’s predecessor, fans of the show handed out a petition to have another childhood icon, LeVar Burton, as the new host of “Jeopardy!”

According to USA Today, the petition nearly reached its goal of 75,000 signatures today. “LeVar Burton has inspired and shaped the minds of generations of trivia-loving nerds,” said the petition on Change.org after listing LeVar’s accomplishments, including playing “brain engineer Geordi La Forge” on “Star Trek.”

It continues: “This petition is meant to show Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc. and producer Mike Richards how much the public loves Burton and how much we would all like to see him as the next Jeopardy host!”

LeVar got wind of the petition after tweeting the job last September, thanking fans for their support while paying his respects to Trebek and his family.

“Even if none of this comes out, I can’t say how much I appreciate all of your love and support!” LeVar tweeted. “While I am very flattered by the petition, my thoughts are definitely with Alex (Trebek’s) family and his millions of fans and the devastating loss of this irreplaceable legend.”

Trebek died last week at the age of 80 after battling pancreatic cancer. The beloved host won seven Emmys for “Jeopardy!” He took over the show in 1984 and hosted it until his death.
