Pictures Fired At Protesters After Nigerian Authorities Points 24-Hour Curfew Amid #EndSARS Protests-Unconfirmed Fatalities & Ambulances Reportedly Blocked

On Tuesday, the governor of the Nigerian commercial center of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, issued a nationwide 24-hour curfew in response to the growth #EndSARS Protests. In a tweet he wrote in part: “I am therefore imposing a 24-hour curfew for all parts of the state from today, October 20, 2020, from 4 p.m. No one except important service providers and first aiders should be found on the street. “

Shortly afterwards, shots appear to have been fired at demonstrators.

Shots were fired while many protested at the Lekki toll booth and many people can be seen in videos running frantically to protect themselves. People also went live on Instagram, including DJ Switch, showing off the chaotic scene of people injured, covered in blood, and running for cover.

There have also been reports of deaths, but we cannot currently confirm the number of people who may have been injured. There are also unconfirmed reports that lights were turned off and ambulances blocked during the protests to prevent them from helping the injured.

As we reported earlier, the protests against SARS began almost two weeks ago.

According to reports, this unit was originally formed in 1992. Civilians should be protected from armed robbers, but the opposite is true. With alleged reports of illegal detentions, murders and extortion, young adults in Nigeria are calling for the unity to disband.

Many also report that SARS profiles young Nigerians who have locomotives or dyed hair, piercings and anything that appears to be of status.

According to the BBC, Amnesty found that men between the ages of 17 and 30 were allegedly targeted. “Young men with dreadlocks, ripped jeans, tattoos, flashy cars or expensive equipment are often attacked by SARS,” Amnesty said.

Once profiled, many are allegedly attacked, raped, and even killed.
