Poland’s American Movie Competition Crowns U.S Work In Progress Winners – .
The 10th edition of US In Progress Wroclaw, the branch wing of the American Film Festival in Poland, which took place online this year, closed over the weekend and presented the participating American film projects with various awards.
Awards range from post-production services to travel grants and cash. To The Moon was awarded $ 10,000 for post-production in Poland by director Scott Friend and producers Cate Smierciak, Everett Hendler, Stephanie Randall and Gabe Wilson. The full list of awards can be found below.
In addition to the US projects, a group of US experts, including Dylan Leiner from Sony Pictures Classics and CAA managers Maren Olson and Kat Moncrief, took part in pitching and one-on-one meetings with Polish projects seeking US partners. During the rest of the festival, the event’s Grand Prix was awarded to The Metamorphosis of Birds, directed by Catarina Vasconcelos, with prize money of 15,000 euros, while The Trouble with Being Born, directed by Sandra Wollner, received a special award. In the Spectrum section, Surrogate, directed by Jeremy Hersh, won the $ 10,000 award, while in the American Docs Truth to Power: Barbara Lee Speaks For Me section, directed by Abby Ginzberg, the award of 5,000 US dollar won.
The Metamorphosis of the Birds also won the festival’s audience award from the 12-person competition line-up.
