TSR Politics: Michigan Decides To Certify Election Votes After An Earlier Try By Republicans To Block Certification

According to @apnews, Michigan election officials on Tuesday reversed their original decision and unanimously confirmed the results of the presidential election. This comes hours after Republicans first blocked the certification of ballots in Wayne County, which includes Detroit, and sent the decision to a state board for approval.

The Board of Canvassers for Wayne County was initially split 2-2 in a vote. Two Democrats on the four-person jury voted in favor of certifying the results, while two Republicans voted against certification.

As previously reported, Michigan, a swing state, has been named President-Elect Joe Biden. It is reported that he received 68% of the county’s 863,000 votes, winning the state by more than 145,000 votes.

Trump and his supporters have argued that electoral fraud was responsible for his loss, despite national election officials claiming it was the “safest” election in history.

According to CBS News, federal electoral infrastructure officials released a statement Thursday debunking Trump’s claims: The 2020 election was “the safest in American history”.

“There is no evidence that a voting system deleted or lost votes, changed votes or compromised in any way,” the statement said.

Most recently, Michelle Obama went to Instagram and encouraged Trump and his team to make a smooth transition in power: “This is not a game. Therefore, I would like to urge all Americans, especially our nation’s leaders, regardless of their party, to honor the electoral process and do their part to ensure a smooth transition of power, as sedentary presidents have done throughout our history. “

We’ll keep you posted, Roomies.
