U.S. Sees Most New COVID Instances In Two Months; L.A. County Above 1,000 Once more – .

The US reported 56,191 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours. That is according to data from Johns Hopkins University on Friday, the highest daily total of new cases in nearly two months. The 7-day average of new cases every day is now increasing in 35 of 50 states from the mid-20s totals last week.

The United States continues to have the highest number of registered coronavirus cases in the world at 7,648,256, according to Johns Hopkins. A week-long trend continues to increase the numbers locally, nationally and globally.

According to the World Health Organization, daily new cases worldwide hit an all-time high of 350,766 on Friday. That number beats the previous high set earlier this week by nearly 12,000. According to the Associated Press, WHO chief for emergencies, Dr. Michael Ryan said that shutdowns “may be inevitable once the disease is out of control”.

Meanwhile, California and Los Angeles have also seen spikes in new cases recently, with local officials watching to see if they represent a slip or a trend. On Friday, Los Angeles County, a third day of rising numbers with 1,256 new cases on Friday, slightly below the 1,280 on Thursday. On Wednesday, LA County reported 1,645 new cases, the largest since August 22.

In total, the state had 838,606 confirmed cases as of Wednesday, up from 3,806 newly registered confirmed cases. A total of 67 new deaths were recorded, bringing the number in California to 16,428.
