Column: The Absolute Failure of Pollsters

In each election cycle there is only one poll that counts and that is the election results. It’s never been as true as it was in 2020. Why should we have paid attention to the polls? From Thursday morning, the lead in the referendum is Biden 50.4 percent, Trump 48.

Here are some of the final polls. Quinnipiac: Biden 50, Trump 39. NBC / Wall Street Journal: Biden 52, Trump 42. Fox News: Biden 52, Trump 44. CNN (likely voters): Biden 54, Trump 42. The Real Clear Politics average was Biden by 7.2 percent.

On October 28, the ABC / Washington Post poll absurdly assumed that Biden led Trump in Wisconsin with 17 points from 57 to 40 points. The actual Biden Margin in Wisconsin as of Thursday? 0.7 percent.

Now ask yourself: If you have a preference for any of these candidates, could it affect your decision about choosing? It absolutely shouldn’t. Never base your decision on whether or not you want to vote on pre-election votes. This is fake news compared to the actual number of votes. They are absolutely worthless as measurements of the voters.

They damage the legitimacy of our democracy and do not help it. When they are so out of base, they lead to both sides of the gap that the system is rigged. What is obviously rigged are these polls, which can easily be classified as alternate reality. It’s hard not to see deliberate rigging, accidental bias.

Everyone – including conservatives who don’t trust the media – makes political and journalistic decisions based on these poorly compiled polls. It’s the political equivalent of chewing on tide pods.

Maybe you can’t just blame pollsters. We know Republicans alternate between complaining that pollsters never call them and hanging up on pollers. We can guess that many Trump supporters will lie about their preference for pollsters when they take the poll. But we also know that these herds of liberal pollsters stack their “turnout models” to their liking of who “the people” are (or should be), and that we end up with bad results like a 12-point gap among the “likely voters “Achieve. ”

Let’s all work with Meghan McCain, who announced on Twitter, “Modern American polls are dead and modern American pollsters should find another calling so they stop wasting all of our time together and help the media and the American public too illuminate. ” They are questioning every poll they’ve taken on President Trump in the past two years.

McCain added, “When will our collective media start accepting how little contact they have with the majority of the country they are in?!? … I assume they won’t, they will only quadruple – instead of accepting, learning and trying to represent so many of the voters who so clearly despise them. “

The media pollsters believe that American voters are always more liberal than they actually are. You’ve been conducting polls for five years that suggest Donald Trump was ineligible. Getting wrong in 2016 never stopped them.

Nine days before election day, NBC reporter Geoff Bennett tried to ease liberal panic over pollsters who might be doing something wrong again. It was a spoonful of fake sugar. “Biden’s lead is greater than Clinton’s, ousting President Trump nationally and in almost every battlefield state.” Trump was “now facing the worst electoral position for a president seeking re-election since George HW Bush in 1992”.

Does anyone expect these great media survey experts to gather for an “autopsy” to evaluate how wrong they are? And how unreliable have they become?
