Donald Trump sacked Defense Secretary Mark Esper in one of his first major acts as a lame duck president.
The President announced that he has named Christopher Mueller, Director of the National Counter-Terrorism Center, as his deputy replacement.
“I am pleased to announce that Christopher C. Miller, the esteemed Director of the National Counter-Terrorism Center (approved unanimously by the Senate), will serve as Secretary of Defense effective immediately. Chris will do a great job! Mark Esper has quit. I want to thank him for his service. “
