Gayle King Joins Oprah and Meghan Markle’s PR Struggle: Simply Cease the Racism!

The The jumble of Liberal Democratic pals Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King took on a new advertising campaign on Tuesday. CBS This Morning’s King used their host status to publicize Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, ridiculing the “racist bias” of the coverage and declaring the antagonistic coverage of the couple as “unfair, inaccurate and false”. This, of course, is the result of Winfrey’s big interview with the ex-royals on CBS.

Vlad Duthiers from this morning said breathlessly, “Gayle, you talked to the couple over the weekend. Let’s bring some news. What did you say? “ King decided what was wrong and what was racist:

I find it frustrating for them to see that it’s a racist conversation about the royal family when they just wanted the royals to step in and tell the press to stop the unfair, inaccurate, bogus stories that are definitely one have racial tendencies. Until you can acknowledge that, I think it’s difficult to move forward.

King joined Harry, Meghan and best friend Winfrey, adding, “The palace keeps saying that they want to work it out privately…. But false stories come out that still belittle Meghan a lot. Nobody in the royal family has spoken to Meghan yet. ”

Duthiers felt compelled to bring Michelle Obama up for discussion:

Former First Lady Michelle Obama was asked about this, and here is something interesting she said, “As I said, race is not a new construct in this world for people of color. And so it was not a complete surprise to hear her feelings and let them articulate. ”

As I have reported in the past, CBS This Morning has a rather tangled web of conflicting interests when it comes to King and Winfrey. The famous talk show host was a CBS correspondent. On November 1, 2018, Nancy Cordes stated, “We should note that Oprah worked part-time for 60 minutes at CBS News, but she is stepping down from that role while fighting for Democrat Stacey Abrams.”

Even so, Winfrey keeps pinging ping pong on the network. Is she a guest, a reporter or a political activist? King, a democratic donor, campaigned repeatedly for Winfrey to defeat Donald Trump in 2020.

Is Winfrey now using her CBS This Morning girlfriend to start lobbying Meghan and Harry where their interview left off?

VLAD DUTHIERS: Prince Phillip left a London hospital this morning after spending a month there. Queen Elizabeth’s 99-year-old husband is recovering from heart surgery for a pre-existing illness. It does so as we learn more about the royal family’s reaction to Prince Harry and Meghan’s explosive interview with Oprah. Roya Nikkhah, Royal Correspondent for the Sunday Times of London, reports that Harry and Prince William were in contact for the first time since the interview aired. According to reports, Harry is hoping to reconcile with his brother before a memorial to her mother, Princess Diana, is unveiled later this summer. The comments Harry made during the interview left their mark. His father, Prince Charles, is said to be “upset and cut up”. Glimpse into the family’s reaction comes when Buckingham Palace hired an in-house law firm to investigate allegations that Meghan bullied royal employees. Gayle, you spoke to the couple over the weekend. Let’s bring some news. What did you say

GAYLE KING: Well, I’m not trying to get the news out, but I actually called them to see how they were feeling. And it’s true, Harry talked to his brother and he talked to his father too. The word I was given, these conversations were not productive. But they’re glad they at least started a conversation. I think what else bothers you. The palace keeps saying they want to work it out privately, but still —

DUTHIERS: All of these leaks.

KING: – False stories come out that still degrade Meghan very much. Nobody in the royal family has spoken to Meghan yet. But they both want to continue and they both want healing in this family. At the end of the day, that’s Harry’s family.

DUTHIERS: There’s no word on whether the palace is investigating what Meghan said about the pursuit of mental health or the racist language.

ANTHONY MASON: But they are investigating the bullying conversations. Apparently the Sussexes themselves will not be part of this investigation.

DUTHIERS: Right. We learn that.

KING: That’s a different matter. The bullying thing was brought up in 2018, now there is an ongoing investigation into bullying by Meghan Markle if everyone who has worked with tells you exactly who she is. She really is a sweet, caring person. And as I’ve seen, Meghan has documents backing up everything in Oprah’s interview. Everything.

DUTHIERS: If anyone were interested in looking at them, maybe the palace would end up somewhere.

KING: Yeah!

DUTHIERS: Former First Lady Michelle Obama was asked about this, and here’s something interesting that she said, “As I said, race is not a new construct in this world for people of color. And so it was not a complete surprise to hear her feelings and let them articulate.

TONY DOKOUPIL: She also makes an interesting point that the family has to reconcile themselves so that they can present something to the world, so that this is an educational moment for all of us. And that didn’t happen.

KING: Well the family has to acknowledge that there are problems and right now nobody is admitting that “Houston, we have a problem here.” That’s really all they want. You want a conversation. You both want a conversation.

DUTHIERS: Hopefully it will.

KING: I hope so too.
