Netflix Proclaims Launch Date, Shares First Seems to be At New Shonda Rhimes Collection – .

Netflix has lowered the release date and is initially looking at pictures for the upcoming Shonda Rhimes series Bridgerton. Announced on Thursday for the first Netflix Shondaland title, the streamer created by Rhimes and Chris Van Dusen will begin streaming on December 25th.

Bridgerton is a romantic, scandalous and quick-witted series set in the high ages of high society in Regency London. She follows Daphne Bridgerton, the eldest daughter of a powerful family, and heads to the highly competitive Regency London marriage market. Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) hopes to follow in her parents’ footsteps and find true love, but as the number of potential applicants dwindles, the young heiress has no choice. Despite her lack of success in the marriage market, Daphne meets the desirable but rebellious bachelor Duke of Hasting (Regé-Jean Page).

Based on Julia Quinn’s bestselling novel series, Bridgerton aims to celebrate the long-lasting effects of friendship, family and love. Other actors who will star in the new Netflix series include Jonathan Bailey, Nicola Coughlan, Claudia Jessie, Ruby Barker, Adjoa Andoh and more. Golda Rosheuvel, Luke Thompson, Luke Newton, Ruby Stokes, Will Tilston, Florence Hunt, Ruth Gemmell, Bessie Carter, Harriet Cains, Polly Walker, Ben Miller, Sabrina Bartlett, Martins Imhangbe and Lorraine Ashbourne complete the cast.

Bridgerton is executive producer on Van Dusen and Shondalands Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers. Julie Ann Robinson, Sheree Folkson, Tom Verica and Alrick Riley will direct.
