On Monday in The View, Senator Ron Johnson’s Liberal hosts were more angry [R-WI] Making fire statements about Black Lives Matter and the “fictional” Antifa when made by scandal-ridden New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who refused to resign.
Co-host Joy Behar was reluctant to see Cuomo leave because he had “good points” and a Republican would be far worse:
What worries me, if he steps back and fast forward, is that a Republican becomes governor of New York State. A lot of things will happen that I won’t be happy with. I mean, let’s talk about Cuomo’s good points for a second. He raised the minimum wage in New York State to $ 15. He’s pushing for gun control all the time, he’s in favor of same-sex marriage. He was great during Hurricane Sandy. There are things he’s done that I really appreciate and I don’t want a Republican to come in there and overturn that policy and exonerate or pardon Trump who is indicted in New York State. So let’s think carefully about what we’re doing here, fellow Democrats.
Sunny Hostin also wanted Cuomo to get his “due process” (something she wouldn’t allow Justice Brett Kavanaugh). She called on the media to force Florida Governor Ron “Death-Santis”, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, and Texas Governor Greg Abbott to resign as well.
But in the next section, Behar and Hostin were much angrier at Republican Senator Johnson, saying he would have been more scared on Jan. 6 if “Antifa or Black Lives Matter” stormed the Capitol.
Angrily, Behar declared “fictional” Antifa, “doesn’t even exist.” It also spread the debunked media myth that a police officer was “beaten to death”:
When I was surrounded by people carrying guns, people setting noose and hanging screaming, Mike Pence, If I bludgeon a cop to death I might be a little scared. But Ron, no, he’s not afraid of these people. He’s scared of this fictional idea of Antifa, something that doesn’t even exist. He has to go. He has to go. And so on.
When every host declared the Republican a racist, the hostess defended the BLM as a peaceful movement. She also backed up assertion that Antifa was invented:
He said it aloud, “I’m not afraid of insurgents who stormed our Capitol and tried to improve our democracy, but I am afraid that black people will protest peacefully according to their God-given constitutional rights. ‘He should be ashamed of himself. He also actually doubled up to ABC News and basically said, well, because the Black Lives Matter protests and Antifa, this fictional Antifa, There were 570 – out of 77,000 protesters, 570 turned into violent riots, killing 25 people. He cited this data from the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project. This project actually responded, saying that it was bastardizing and twisting that data because, in fact, The protests against Black Lives Matter were not violent. They were not actually violent and there were aggressive interventions by police officers, counter-demonstrators such as militia groups and auto-ramming attacks that made these protests violent. No black people. No black people. I would say, you know, stop worrying about blacks exercising their constitutional rights, Ron Johnson …
Later, the conservative co-host Meghan McCain tried to correct the apparently false statements of her co-moderators.
“Antifa exists. The Anti-Defamation League came out saying it was both a dangerous and counterproductive organization. The actual Portland courthouse was set on fire that same weekend.” She pointed out that she had friends who had been reporting on Antifa’s violence “for months”, and one was injured by those activists.
In summary, she concluded: “We can say that Ron Johnson is an absolute idiot, we can say that not all activism is violent, but the idea that antifa does not exist is just, just factually inaccurate and false and a lie. “
Behar didn’t like being corrected. She jumped back at the end of the segment to double up on her false statement.
“I just want to make it clear that Christopher Wray, the FBI director, says Antifa is an ideology, not an organization.” she explained, adding that they were not in the Capitol.
McCain shot back, “I’m not saying you were involved in the siege of the Capitol, I’m saying they exist!” Behar tried to withdraw from the conversation and said, “I’m done. I said my thing. You said yours. “
But McCain put her feet to the fire: “You said it was a fantasy! You said Antifa doesn’t exist and it’s a fantasy! ”
While the couple continued to argue, the show was reduced to commercials.

The actual courthouse in Portland was set on fire that same weekend, and federal officials were forced to use ammunition, tear gas and lightning grenades in the courthouse. What sets Antifa apart is their willingness to use force. I have very good friends who have been reporting on Antifa for months and months, and I actually have a friend who was hurt when he was reporting on it. We can run and chew gum at the same time. We can say that Ron Johnson is an absolute idiot, we can say that not all activism is violent, but the idea that antifa does not exist is just, just factually inaccurate and false and a lie.
