WORST OF 2020: Silliest Evaluation

All week long, NewsBusters is telling us about the nastiest liberal trend of the year.

On MondayWe presented the most outrageous examples of journalists defying liberal or left-wing icons. on Tuesday We checked the crudest examples of the media making policy on the pandemic. on Wednesday We examined the worst attacks of the year on Team Trump’s Conservatives. and yesterday We highlighted the media’s Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Today we’re looking at the silliest analysis of 2020.

That year, CNN’s Don Lemon compared ANTIFA / BLM rioters to the Founding Fathers at the Boston Tea Party while CBS correspondent Vladimir Duthiers (and others) celebrated the “silver lining” of the pandemic.

Time to break out superheroes

“Trials and action films have long shown distorted perceptions of the American judicial system, in which the police are almost always positioned as the good guys. Parents protest benevolent portrayals of dog cops on U.S. children’s TV show Paw Patrol … And yet, what are superheroes other than caped cops using their powers to do justice? … Given that the makers and stars of these films were historically white men, it is hardly surprising that so few anticipate issues of systemic racism – let alone sexism, homophobia, transphobia and other forms of bigotry that appear in embedded in the judicial system, or with the inherent prejudices these superheroes might have on their streets or in the universe. “

Looting and riots like the Boston Tea Party

“Let’s not forget, if someone judges that, I don’t judge it. I just wonder what’s going on because we should have figured out this experiment a long time ago. Our country was founded because – so – the Boston Tea Party. Revolt. So don’t twist it and think that this is something that has never happened before and that is so terrible and these savages and all that. That’s how this country was started. “
– Host Don Lemon describes looting scenes on CNN Tonight, May 30th.

I’m sorry my son we screwed everything up for you

“My dearest river, in spite of all odds, you were conceived in a lighthouse that was born during a pandemic and tastes just enough of life as we knew it to be annoyed when it is gone. I’m so sorry. I’m sorry we broke your sea and sky and cut the nightingale’s wings. I’m sorry that the Great Barrier Reef is no longer great, that we value Amazon ™ more than the Amazon, and that the waterfront neighborhood where you simmer in my arms could be doomed by soaring seas before you get old enough for a mortgage … As you get older this will be difficult to understand. But we were under the spell of Genesis 1:28: rule over every living being. We had a strange urge to carve straight lines out of the curves of nature and we were under the spell of a unique human force called the “profit motive”. “
– CNN chief climate correspondent Bill Weir in a letter to his newborn son posted on CNN.com on April 25.

Finding the “silver lining” of the pandemic

“Let’s talk to you about Italy. Obviously, this country and its people have been devastated by the coronavirus. However, there is a small silver lining in some historic cities. This is Venice … you can never see the water because it is so cloudy from all boats. This time you can now see the crystal clear waters of the canals of Venice. You can see fish swimming around in the canals … this is a map, a satellite map that will show you the level of pollution that has disappeared in the past three months due to the reduction in emissions in northern Italy. So there is a little silver lining. “
– Correspondent Vladimir Duthiers on CBS This morning, March 19th.

Mother Nature “hissed” at us

“Looking back, Mother Earth cleared her throat and made herself heard. Australian bushfires ravaged the continent. The earth had registered its highest temperatures since records began. Now that the planet is essentially hissing, “I will not be ignored,” how do we deal with the climate emergency? … From Shanghai to Secaucus, by circumstances and not by design, a glimpse into life with less fossil fuels. And the clean and quiet environment has already caught on with wild animals. “
– Correspondent Jon Wertheim on CBS 60 minutes, May 17th.

CNN doesn’t seem to understand what the word “peaceful” means

“Fiery but most peaceful protests after the police were taken in”
– The current headline aired during CNN correspondent Omar Jimenez’s report on August 25th.
